Personal Email ID now at Rs 300 BY MELVYN MISQUITA Imagine having your very own feature-rich personalised email address such as ‘peter@fernandes.in’ and that too, at a mere 83 paise per day. Sounds too good to be true? Then check out ‘emailaddress.in’, an email service started by Rickson Rodricks (26) of Mumbai. Claiming to be the first company in India to offer personal email addresses offering someone's own surname, Mr Rodricks told Herald that there are over 200 surnames for people to choose from, among them some great Goan surnames such as ‘dcosta.in’, ‘dsa.in’, ‘dias.in’, ‘dsilva.in’, ‘fernandes.in’, ‘gomes.in’, ‘gonsalves.in’, ‘lobo.in’, ‘naik.in’, ‘pereira.in’, ‘pinto.in’, ‘rodricks.in’ and ‘rodrigues.in’. “Besides checking all your personal emails within this main account, you can consolidate various email accounts such as those from Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN or your personal or company accounts having POP3 or IMAP access,” informed Mr Rodricks. “In addition, you can create searchable email directories whose contents contain pre-configured search results that are updated constantly. For example, you can create a special directory that should store all unread email, another directory to store all email 1 week old and so on,” he adds. Other features of ‘emailaddress.in’ include a 99% Spam blocker, 99% Virus blocker, extra integrated features such as Online Journal, Tasks, Notes, Calendar, Address Book and custom configuration of spam fighting technologies to insure a spam and virus free mailbox. “You can also create RSS folders and consolidate your RSS feeds such as news headlines into your mail folders accessible via IMAP or the web,” says Mr Rodricks. “Emailaddress.in has been optimised for your email client. We have specifically designed our service to dramatically improve the speed of your email client with our custom IMAP service,” Mr Rodricks said. Besides, through the web interface Emailaddress.in provides an easy to use wizard for users to import and export their address book from many common email clients. “This wizard provides you step-by-step directions on exporting your address book entries from your email client (such as MS Outlook / Outlook Express) and uploading these contacts into the contacts folder,” informed Mr Rodricks. “In addition, through the advanced web compose mail utility (send or reply email utility) you will find a handy feature for spell checking your messages before you send them. This pop-up window is similar to the spell check feature you find in powerful email clients.” Another useful utility offered by emailaddress.in is the Web Addressbook Compose Autocomplete. “Our web compose mail utility (send or reply email utility) is the ability to auto-complete the To: and CC: fields (or the recipient) of your email message. We capture the names and email addresses from all of your contacts folders and allow you to auto-complete these names or addresses when writing an email,” says Mr Rodricks. “This means that while if John Dias is in your Contacts folder you can simply start writing John D and the system will try to guess which person from your contacts list you are attempting to email,” he explained. The feature rich emailaddress.in is available in four plans. Plan A offers 10 MB email storage space at Rs 300 per year, while Plan B offers 100 MB email storage space at Rs500 per year. For those in need of larger space, Plan C offer 500 MB email storage space at Rs 1,200 per year, while Plan D offers 1000MB email storage space at Rs 1,800 per year. Plan A offers all features except IMAP/POP3. The email service may include some popunders. Plan B offers all features, but the email service may include some popunders. Plan C offers all features and no popunders, while Plan D provides all features and no popunders, besides priority support. “We have a no-risk 30 day trial period for the Package A. Users may sign-up for a free 30-day trial Emailaddress.in account, without entering any billing information. Once users become comfortable with our service they may then enter in their payment information from their account, or pay us offline,” informs Mr Rodricks.
